As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a hands-on leader to support our underground utility operations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Working Supervisor to lead and work alongside a crew of 3–4 team members on sewer, water, and storm pipe projects. This role combines hands-on pipe installation and equipment operation with field leadership responsibilities. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, coordinating with project teams and customers, and ensuring Safety, Quality, and Production goals are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside a crew of 3–4 employees in underground utility construction
- Install sewer, water, and storm pipe including trenching, grading, and backfilling
- Operate heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, trenchers) as needed
- Plan daily work, assign tasks, and track production against project schedules
- Ensure all safety protocols, pre-job planning, and quality standards are followed
- Conduct safety meetings, observations, and assist with incident investigations
- Read and interpret blueprints, grades, and construction drawings (including field markups)
- Act as a conduit between field crews, Project Managers, and customer representatives
- Coordinate materials and ensure proper quantities (aggregate, pipe, concrete) are available
- Maintain daily reports, documentation, and time entry for the crew
- Collaborate with Project Managers to meet milestones and address delays
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of underground utility construction experience (sewer, water, storm)
- 2+ years of supervisory or crew lead experience in civil/site construction
- Strong hands-on experience operating heavy equipment
- Proficient in reading plans, grades, and utility layouts
- Knowledge of trenching, shoring, and pipe installation practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred
- CDL Class A preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for project needs
