Job Summary:

The Estimator is responsible for estimating new projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares estimates from start to finish on all site projects and designs and build projects, including proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Assist Project Managers in bid take-offs when needed.
  • Develops a history of time & material rates and unit prices.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Transfers information to project managers and supervisors once a project is awarded.
  • Plans project budgets.
  • Implements an advanced schedule for current work, pending work, and bids that are out.
  • Reviews profit and loss for completed projects.
  • Increases management's effectiveness by communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic plan development by studying technological and financial opportunities; present assumptions to senior management; recommend objectives.
  • Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed or directed by senior leadership.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least two years related experience required.

 

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
